CHICAGO, Oct. 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- The phrase "All men and women are created equal" took a new and significant meaning late last week with Congress' approval of mental health parity legislation that will outlaw health insurance discrimination against Americans with mental health and substance-abuse conditions in employer-sponsored health plans.
It is estimated that roughly 67 percent of adults and 80 percent of children requiring mental health services do not receive help, in large part because of discriminatory insurance practices.

Included in last week's Wall Street bailout bill, the new mental health parity legislation will require insurance plans to provide coverage for mental illnesses, eating disorders and addiction disorders equal to what they provide for physical illnesses.

I was 10 or 11 at that time and I thought he cared about me much more than my own parents because he had never left me.”
Sexual assault is just one form of violence in school that affects millions of children throughout the world. Beaming with anticipation of what was in store, participants wandered out of the freedom of the ferry to the gates of the prison that was Nelson Mandela’s home for 18 years.
Dennis Smith, former President WACC-Latin America said the prison represents the horror of what power can do between those with a tight grip on it and those excluded from it.

Robben Island wasn’t only a notorious prison. Between 1845 and 1931 it was a place where lepers and the critically ill were quarantined and it became a military camp from 1939 to 1959. It became a prison in 1960 up until 1991.
From a dumping place of lepers to a notorious prison, Robben Island has always had dark side. But no longer. Now it is a haven of peace as the oppressor and the oppressed are working together to give peace and freedom a chance.
No wonder one of the ferries that takes people there is named “Sikhululekile’”– whose literal meaning is “We are free now.”

Two Filipino radio broadcasters based in the southern island of Mindanao received death threats after reporting alleged extortion activities involving some local government officials.
Erin Lumosbog of RPN-9's radio station dxKT-Radyo Ronda (Roving Radio) Davao and James Pala of dxAM-Radyo Rapido (Rapid Radio) said they received the threats on their mobile phones telling them to stop discussing alleged extortion activities by some councilors of the municipality of Santa Cruz in Davao del Sur, an Inquirer.net 7

In a phone interview with the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) last 8 October, Lumosbog said the threats came after he discussed on his radio program allegations by a local businessman that some municipal council members had asked him for P1.2 million (approx. USD 25,586) in exchange for their approval of
his request to quarry in their jurisdiction.
The businessman was able to raise only P480,000 (approx. USD 10,235). His request was denied. The businessman approached the media for help when the councilors allegedly refused to return his P480,000.
Inquirer.net quoted one of the messages as saying, "If you will not stop doing commentaries on the Santa Cruz issue, bullets might force you to stop." Lumosbog tried calling the numbers used to send him the threats but all had been deactivated.
Lumosbog continues to discuss the issue in his radio program but said he is taking precautionary measures. "If we let the threats affect us, our radio program will be ruined," he said in Filipino. He explained that he has lessened his field activities and is staying in a "safe house."
"We have been asking the councilors to explain their side," Lumosbog said in Filipino. But he said the councilors seem to be avoiding the media. "When we went to see the councilors allegedly involved, they suddenly disappeared from the session hall," he said.
There is an ongoing investigation on the alleged extortion activities. Santa Cruz municipal mayor Joel Ray Lopez told Inquirer.net that several businessmen did "(decide) to withdraw their investments (in Santa Cruz) because some councilors were
asking money from them in exchange for some favors."

Nach einer Grundgesetzänderung, wie sie die Koalition plant, könnten solche zweifelhaften Mutmaßungen über geplante Anschläge den Einsatz der Bundeswehr bei amtlichen Großveranstaltungen rechtfertigen. The people of the United States of America and of Germany are not the enemies of the people in Afghanistan or in Iraq, but those which are the war makers and which do profit from war. Every one which is able to think, should think and every one which is able to listen should listen. Many people want liberty, democracy, peace and not war ! The people in Iraq and Afghanistan should know that this is not the war of the people of the United States of America and it is not the war of the people of Germany.
So far as I have learned many people in Germany and in the United States of America want peace, democracy and liberty and not that innocent woman and children get killed by German and American Military Forces in certain places such as in the countries of Afghanistan or Iraq. The most important duty of a journalist is the respect for the truth and for the right to the public to truth is the first duty of the journalist. Therefore I do believe no journalist or any other media person should participate in propaganda for war but take action for truth, peace, liberty and democracy. WICHITA, Kans., Oct. 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- An ambulance arrived at Women's Health Care Services, a late-term abortion mill owned by George R. Tiller, and transported a woman away with lights flashing and sirens blaring at approximately 6:30 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2008.
This incident occurred just six days after another of Tiller's abortion patients was hospitalized after suffering late-term abortion complications that nearly cost her life.
Wednesday's incident was reported by Brandi Lozier, who was volunteering for the Kansas Coalition for Life outside the WHCS gate. Brandi observed that a clinic employee driving a van registered to Tiller entered the parking lot at high speeds carrying a Caucasian woman who appeared to be in distress. The van pulled around to the back of the building and began to sound the horn.
Lozier called 911 and asked for help. It is unclear if her call summoned the ambulance or if another call was placed from inside WHCS.
According to another witness, John Elmore, an ambulance, a fire truck, and a police cruiser arrived shortly before 6:30 PM and within approximately two minutes the ambulance left WHCS with lights and sirens. It headed northbound on Bleckley then turned west into on-coming traffic on the Kellogg frontage road until it reached Oliver.
Operation Rescue was notified, and Cheryl Sullenger went immediately to Wesley Medical Center where a number of ambulances were in various stages of offloading patients. It is unclear which vehicle may have transported the injured woman.
This is the first time an ambulance has been seen at WHCS since July, 2005, after which Tiller began transporting women with life-threatening emergencies in private vehicles. Last Thursday, Patient S. was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Tiller's private Jeep after having suffered respiratory distress and cardiac arrest during an abortion.
"We have a crisis situation right now at Tiller's abortion business, and we are wondering what the body count has to be before the state regulators will close it down," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "Tiller's clinic has become little more than a dangerous abortion chop shop. ORISSA, India, Oct. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Three more believers were martyred and twelve others were severely wounded in a fresh wave of violence in Orissa, India, on September 30. The latest attacks occurred in villages near Kandhamal, which has been the epicenter of violence against Christians since August 22.
The violence in Orissa came as attacks in two other Indian states targeted a Christian pastor and a GFA-related center for children.
An estimated 30 Christians have been killed and thousands of others have lost their homes since Hindu extremists went on a rampage after their leader, Swami Laxmananda Saraswati was murdered. His followers are seeking revenge for his death, for which Christians have been blamed. However, Maoists have claimed responsibility for the murder.
A Gospel for Asia correspondent in Orissa said Tuesday's attacks came at 4:30 a.m. when mobs of as many as 5,000 Hindu extremists attacked three separate villages. The extremists burned down about 150 homes and three churches. The Indian media reports that police opened fire in an attempt to disperse the violent forces.
The mob also reportedly attacked the local police station, demanding that two people arrested in connection with the ongoing riots be released. Media reports from within the country also indicate that the extremists have blocked all roads in and out of the area of the attack with rocks and boulders to prevent police from bringing in additional forces.
Since the violence began August 22, six people who attended GFA-related churches in Orissa have been killed by the Hindu extremists, who have personally attacked more than 2,000 believers from these churches. The extremists have also burned down 630 homes belonging to believers who attend GFA-related churches and destroyed 22 churches were GFA missionaries serve as pastors.
Many Christians are still hiding out in the dense jungles surrounding their villages. They are suffering from the effects of starvation, disease and monsoon flooding that wrecked the state in September.
With the continued violence and the roads blocked, it is impossible for GFA Compassion Services teams to get into Orissa to distribute aid.

The extremists have also been systematically threatening the parents of the children in the center for the past few weeks. The center was closed as a precaution and no children were on site when the extremists attacked the missionary.
Christian Aid Workers Forced Out of Bihar
Another gang of anti-Christian extremists forced out Christian aid workers attempting to help survivors of flooding in Bihar. The incident occurred on September 25 in the state’s Purnia district where aid workers were assessing needs and handing out cards for people to exchange for supplies. The group was planning to help at least 2,500 families.
The extremists accused the group of taking advantage of the situation to lure the people into Christianity by offering relief materials.
The aid workers, who have been in Bihar since September 1, were able to move their base to another area and continue operations.

We do believe that rich people should use the financial power not to oppress people, not to make them slaves, not to control or even not to destroy millions of poor people. Therefore it seems quite impossible to deliver you the truth in news and information because most of the so called news releases even by governmental sources are manipulated. In many cases they have nothing to do with the truth or do provide only a little part of the truth, so far as we have been able to discover.
However we will continue to provide these kind of information also, because it is also an information to learn how news are made with or without the truth and with or even without a free press, a free speech or without the possibility for independent journalists to fulfill their public duties as granted in the constitution of the United States of America (U.S.A.) or in the basic law known as the "Grundgesetz" in Germany.
