Free Speech Rally for Sally

Free Speech Rally for Sally

Over 50 Pastors organize rally to support besieged Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern
WASHINGTON, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Wednesday, April 2, Concerned Women for America (CWA) will join over 50 pastors in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to rally support for State Representative Sally Kern (R- Oklahoma City) and her right to free speech. Recently, Rep. Kern has been under attack from radical homosexual activists and their followers over remarks she made regarding the homosexual agenda. Rep. Kern took a Biblical stand against homosexual activism and has refused to back down from her statements despite receiving death threats.

Event Details ---

What: Free Speech Rally for State Representative Sally Kern

When: Wednesday, April 2; 12:00pm Noon

Where: Rotunda of the Oklahoma State Building; 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City Oklahoma

CWA applauds Rep. Kern for continuing to be steadfast and resolute in this fight against the homosexual agenda and for shedding light on the threat it poses to our nation. Rep. Kern has been quoted as saying that the homosexual agenda is dangerous "because it destroys the basic moral fiber of this nation, which is traditional marriage and the traditional family." She couldn't be more right.

Matt Barber, CWA's Policy Director for Cultural Issues, said, "There are certainly those who hate Rep. Kern. They've made that perfectly clear with vicious personal attacks and even death threats. But millions of Americans proudly stand alongside Sally Kern and say, 'Thank you. Thank you for boldly standing your ground and for unapologetically defending Biblical Truth.' They intended to make an example of her. They have, but not in the way they had hoped. She has set an example for millions of believers around the world. Her courage and refusal to deviate from God's unequivocal condemnation of sexual immorality is serving to galvanize and embolden others. People say, 'Well Sally Kern wasn't intimidated, why should I be?'"

CWA of Oklahoma State Director, Linda Caswell, said "Rep. Kern has exercised her right to free speech and has spoken boldly about the effects of homosexuality on our families and on our nation. We strongly encourage everyone to come to the rally and show your support for Rep. Kern. Let others know that we will not back down from taking a Biblical stand on the moral issues facing our state and our nation today."

New Book Predicts Conservative Turnaround in America's Largest Mainline Denomination

New Book Predicts Conservative Turnaround in America's Largest Mainline Denomination

WASHINGTON, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- In contrast to other mainline denominations like the Episcopalians, decline and schism are NOT in the future of the United Methodist Church, according to an author who has helped lead renewal efforts within the 11 million-member denomination. Mark Tooley has seen a gradual but sustained turnaround in America's largest Mainline Protestant church; the results of which will emerge at the denomination's governing General Conference starting April 23 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Tooley's new book, "Taking Back the United Methodist Church," chronicles past battles for the soul of Methodism and efforts to restore the church to the passionate evangelistic beliefs of founder John Wesley. With the work of the Holy Spirit, the prayerful efforts of evangelical renewal groups and the church's demographic shifts to growing churches in Africa, Tooley celebrates the return to biblically orthodox teaching and evangelistic outreach.

The IRD is making complementary copies available to active members of the media. Please contact media@TheIRD.org to obtain review copies and set up an interview with the author.

What people are saying about "Taking Back the United Methodist Church":

"Mark Tooley has provided for us United Methodists helpful insights into many of the stories behind the stories that have made church news in recent years. His careful and thorough reporting provides for us comprehensive coverage and understanding of more than a decade of important United Methodist events that have made the news. Many of us are profoundly grateful to Mark for his invaluable investigative reporting." -- James V. Heidinger, President and Publisher, Good News

"You don't have to be a Methodist to be intensely interested in the integrity of faith and life in a Christian community whose influence touches us all. We are indebted to Mark Tooley for this lively account of the heirs of John Wesley who are fighting the good fight." -- The Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, Editor in Chief, First Things

"Mark Tooley asks all the right questions-about biblical authority, the uniqueness of Jesus Christ, the mission of the church, sexual ethics and leadership accountability. And then he simply allows denominational progressives and elites to answer in their own words. It's must reading for anyone who wonders what's ailing the UMC and what we can do to fix it." -- The Rev. Karen Booth, Executive Director, Transforming Congregations

New Outreach for Those Touched by Abortion

New Outreach for Those Touched by Abortion

Abortion Changes You Includes Resources for Men, Women, Family Members and Friends
SAN DIEGO, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- Abortion. It's a word that grips us when we hear it--sometimes with anger, sometimes with fear, and oftentimes with pain. Most people avoid the subject. Many advocate a position on the streets, in the courtrooms, or in the halls of Congress, while some pray for its end. But what about the tens of millions of Americans who've been personally touched by abortion? How can they find a safe place away from the polarized debate where they can make sense of their abortion experiences and connect with resources that are relevant to them?

Abortion Changes You(TM) is a new national outreach that launches in April 2008. The outreach communicates to those who've been touched by abortion--men, women, grandparents, siblings, other family members, and friends--that they are not alone. This desperately needed environment will invite people to enter a safe place either online or through the book Changed: Making Sense of Your Own or A Loved One's Abortion Experience. Through the Web site and book, people can explore others' stories, participate in interactive content, seek healing, and access local support resources.

"As a teenager I underwent an abortion believing it was the only practical solution to my unintended pregnancy. Yet I was completely unprepared for the emotional fallout. For years I suffered in silence," says Michaelene Fredenburg, the creator of the Abortion Changes You Outreach. "After ultimately finding peace, I ended my silence in the hope that I could contribute to creating a safe place for people to dialogue about abortion. Abortion Changes You(TM) grew out of not only my own experience, but also the many heart wrenching stories that have been shared with me."

Through the Abortion Changes You outreach, men and women who were previously unable or reluctant to seek assistance are given a safe place to explore their feelings and seek resolution.

The outreach was initiated in 2007 with the production of 15 voices that powerfully portray how abortion changes women and their partners, grandparents and siblings, as well as the other family members and friends of those involved. These voices, which will be used on billboards, public-transit advertising spaces, print ads, and education flyers, will direct viewers to the Abortion Changes You Web site www.abortionchangesyou.com.

Fredenburg, author of Changed--the soon-to-be- released book featuring the real experiences of real people--hopes that in addition to reaching those touched by a past abortion, the outreach will equip others with new language so they'll be better able to sensitively and compassionately communicate with others about abortion.

"Although each person's experience with abortion is unique, a common thread moves through them all-- abortion changes you. It is our hope that the space we've created online and in the book will give voice to thoughts deeply buried and allow hurting individuals to connect with healing resources."

Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Historic Ten Commandments Case

Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Historic Ten Commandments Case
News Conference Today, March 31, 2:00 p.m., Julia Davis Park

BOISE, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Case, Pleasant Grove v. Summum, will determine if government bodies can exclude certain monuments and displays from public forums like parks and municipal buildings.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that government bodies cannot exclude displays from the public square.

If the city of Pleasant Grove were to win this case, the Ten Commandments could be returned back to Julia Davis Park. The reason would be that Rev. Fred Phelps' threats of lawsuit will no longer apply because the City of Boise would be able to determine without threat of lawsuit what displays were in the park.

There will be a news conference to discuss this impact on Boise's Ten Commandments situation on Monday, March 31, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in Julia Davis Park where the monument used to be.

Brandi Swindell, co-director of the Keep the Commandments Coalition, comments, "We applaud the United States Supreme Court for taking the historic case. The Keep the Commandments Coalition always maintained the City of Boise and the parks and recreation department had the authority to determine what kind of displays and monuments can be in public parks. If we win the case, which will be argued this fall, it will pave the way to the Ten Commandments to be returned back to its home in Julia Davis Park."

Six Year Old Cooper Takes State Chess Tournament According to ChristiaNet.com

Six Year Old Cooper Takes State Chess Tournament According to ChristiaNet.com

MEDIA ADVISORY, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- There are few words six year old William Cooper, Jr. likes more than the two he uttered seven times at the State of Texas Elementary Chess Championship: check mate. "I was surprised," said Cooper, a resident of Texas. "It was very scary for several of my games." Scary, for the first grader who is studying pre-algebra math, meant he made several moves during his games that he immediately realized were mistakes. But he was able to overcome them to take first place at the tournament, a repeat of his finish at the 2007 tournament were he tied for first place.

"My dad was praying for me every time I was playing one of the games which could last one to two hours each over a two day tournament weekend. If I was in a difficult situation, I would stop to think knowing because of the prayer God would give me wisdom", stated Cooper. William has learned many life lessons from playing chess over the past year. "Chess has taught me about prayer, practice, patience and making friends. Making friends from different parts of the state and country has been a lot of fun."

The victory qualified Cooper for the national chess tournament later this year. It also earned him a trophy that now stands in his room, a mere three inches shorter than he is. "I couldn't carry it, so my dad had to," Cooper said. William Cooper, Sr. can take credit for introducing the game to his son when the boy was at an age where some children are still fumbling with building blocks. "When he was four I showed him how to play chess, but I pulled my hair out because I didn't think he was getting it," the elder Cooper said. "But when he was five, his mom bought him chess for the computer, and he was really interested in it."

The tournament featured about 1,500 competitors, including 166 in William's K-1 category. William has played in more than 20 tournaments this school year, including state and national championships. He spends around ten hours per week learning the game. Between computerized opponents, practice with his chess tutors or competing he keeps learning the game and life lessons.

Late-Abortions Plummet Nearly 30% in Abortion Capital

Late-Abortions Plummet Nearly 30% in Abortion Capital
Total number of abortions also declines

TOPEKA, Kansas, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting that the total number of abortions done in Kansas dipped in 2007, with the most remarkable decrease in late-term abortions. Those generally decreased by 23 percent while late abortions done after viability dropped 28 percent.

"We fully expected to see a dramatic drop in late-term abortions in Kansas due to the fact that late-term abortionist George Tiller closed his abortion mill to patients for a record 38 days last summer," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We believe that closure was a result of a number of factors, including pressure from pro-life groups and criminal charges that were unexpectedly filed against him by the attorney general's office."

"We strongly believe in the power of prayer, and last year Operation Rescue hosted three major prayer events outside Tiller's abortion mill prior to the closure," said Newman. "We also aggressively brought pressure on Tiller's abortion business through our tireless investigations, which have exposed what we believe is criminal activity committed by his abortion staff. We publicly released our information and reported it to law enforcement, the legislature, and other disciplinary groups."

However, the statistics also show an unfortunate increase in the number of abortions done on women who reside in other states. Operation Rescue attributes this increase to the recent closure of several abortion clinics in nearby states.

"This is a good news, bad news situation," said Newman. "While we are grateful that dangerous abortion mills are closing around the nation, it is unfortunate that Kansas has become a magnet for child-killing. This only adds to Kansas's reputation of being the Nation's Abortion Capital."

Read KDH&E Abortion Reports

Operation Rescue is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation. Operation Rescue recently made headlines when it bought and closed an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas and has become the voice of the pro-life activist movement in America. Its activities are on the cutting edge of the abortion issue, taking direct action to restore legal personhood to the pre-born and stop abortion in obedience to biblical mandates.

Susan G. Komen's Funding of Planned Parenthood Causes Diocese to Discourage Support

Susan G. Komen's Funding of Planned Parenthood Causes Diocese to Discourage Support -- Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer Praises Decision

MEDIA ADVISORY, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- A spokesperson for the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer announced today that the group agrees with a decision made by the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette, Indiana to discourage support for the cancer group, Susan G. Komen for the Cure. [1] The Coalition supports the diocese's decision and applauds the courage of its officials.

"First, Komen does not tell women the truth that abortion increases breast cancer risk in three ways," asserted Karen Malec, the Coalition's president.

i) By delaying a first full term pregnancy (a risk recognized by all experts) the woman loses her chance to mature 85% of her cancer-susceptible breast lobules into fully cancer-resistant lobules at a younger age. Full maturation of the lobules is a process that takes place throughout the last months of full term pregnancy.

ii) Almost all of the childless woman's breast lobules are cancer-susceptible Type 1 and 2 lobules. Up to 95% of all breast cancers arise in these lobules. In a normal pregnancy, the breasts grow under the influence of an increased level of estrogen (a hormone and a cancer-causing agent), thereby causing the lobules to multiply. The woman (who aborts before lobule maturation is completed) is left with more places in her breasts for cancers to start.

iii) The Institute of Medicine lists abortion as a risk factor for premature birth. [2] Research shows that premature birth before 32 weeks gestation increases the mother's breast cancer risk. [3,4,5,6] The biological reasons are the same as for the abortion- breast cancer link. Through the abortion-premature birth link, the woman is left with more places in her breasts for cancers to start.

In late October, an article in the National Catholic Register by Susan Wills of the USCCB charged that cancer groups have kept women in the dark about the risk of breast cancer due to hormonal contraceptive use and abortion. [2] Similar accusations have been made in other medical journals. [3,4,5,6]

The Diocese's decision is in line with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) 2007-2008 Respect Life Program, which includes an article explaining how abortion increases breast cancer risk and offering reasons why the evidence has been suppressed. [7]

Mrs. Malec said, "Komen perpetuates the breast cancer epidemic by giving funds to Planned Parenthood. As a seller of hormonal contraceptives and abortions, Planned Parenthood is the primary cause of the breast cancer epidemic."

Although the funds are supposedly intended for breast cancer screenings, Komen has no way of ensuring that the funds are used exclusively for that purpose, instead of its cancer-causing activities.

"Planned Parenthood's personnel have no respect for human life," added Mrs. Malec. "What would cause people, who don't care about children's lives, to care if women die of breast cancer?

"We encourage Komen to end its love affair with Planned Parenthood and give funds for breast cancer screenings to legitimate health care organizations that will use the money for its intended purpose. We also call upon Komen to tell women the truth that abortion increases breast cancer risk."

The third reason for the withdrawal of diocesan support for Komen is its endorsement of experiments on embryonic humans.

The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer is an international women's organization founded to protect the health and save the lives of women by educating and providing information on abortion as a risk factor for breast cancer.

IRN USA Radio News Merger Gives Listeners 2500+ Air Waves of Fluff-free Radio

IRN USA Radio News Merger Gives Listeners 2500+ Air Waves of Fluff-free Radio: 'The Truth Listeners Crave'

MEMPHIS, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Most journalists simply don't have a clue." And the recent merger of Memphis- based Information Radio Network and Dallas-based USA Radio Network - it is hoped - will help to remedy the situation, say corporate officials.

"Audiences are not getting the truth from the current uninformed, controlled media who perpetrate a kind of intellectual incest on listeners," says Dr. Larry Bates, CEO of the Information Radio Network.

USA Radio Network, Inc., a privately held company, merged with the Information Radio Network on March 3, 2008, to form IRN USA Radio News. "Our whole mission is to raise up wisdom in a generation that lacks wisdom," says Bates. "If you have real knowledge, then you have an understanding of what's going on. From there you can assess how things will impact your everyday life."

According to Nielsen Media Research, the merger has created one of the largest news networks in America - a union the new organization promises will be a powerful voice for accurate information around the globe.

Bates just returned from Singapore where IRN USA Radio News is expanding its operations in the Asia- Pacific region.

"There is an enormous amount of activity in Asia today," says Chee Kang Seng, IRN USA Radio News' Singapore bureau chief. "With the upcoming Olympics, the economic problems, and the political unrest in parts of the region such as China, the Asia- Pacific region has become a news-rich environment that cannot be ignored. We will provide IRN USA Radio News listeners with up-to-date reports on how the unrest in this part of the world affects the United States, particularly in terms of the economic turmoil America is currently experiencing."

With the combined global reach of Information Radio Network and USA Radio Network, the newly formed IRN USA Radio News organization will be able to provide timely and relevant news and information to an affiliate base of over 2500 AM/FM radio stations across America.

"We're thrilled at the opportunity to join forces with such a well respected news organization," says Tim Maddoux, vice president of the USA Radio Network. "With our combined resources, the potential for growth is astounding."

USA was founded in 1985 by Marlin Maddoux who pioneered conservative talk radio in 1972 with Point of View out of Dallas. The network originally identified the need for a national news service for radio stations not served by major networks. In 2007, Maddoux was inducted into the NRB Hall of Fame, and USA received the NRB award for Best News Format that same year.

At the forefront of radio news for over a dozen years, IRN has news bureaus around the world. The IRN and USA business merger combines the strengths of both networks, making the new IRN USA Radio News a powerful mega radio network with over two hundred and fifty years of broadcast news experience.

"We have compatible corporate cultures, and everyone at the helm and in the trenches carries the same mission in their hearts - to provide truth and information to the listening public everyday," says Bates.

Offering all the programming previously available on both networks, IRN USA Radio News is broadcast from five satellites at its new base of operations - a state-of-the-art control room in Memphis. In addition to several former USA staff, IRN USA Radio News anchors continue to report the news from a lengthy roster of longstanding popular programs.

IRN USA Radio News flagship programs include News and Views. This confrontational show focuses on economics, politics, and religion, and connects the dots on how these sectors of society affect the culture. The thirty-six-year-old Point of View - another flagship program - defends a biblical worldview, and proclaims Godly solutions for America's problems. The Matthew Hill Show brings youth to the airways in a newly syndicated talk show hosted by 29-year-old Tennessee state legislator, Matthew Hill. And Treehouse One is the only live call-in talk show in the nation for children.

"All of our people are cross-trained and carry full journalist credentials," says Bates. "In other words, the brass is in the newsroom and in the trenches along with everyone else, with their sleeves rolled up, busy working in whatever capacity they are needed in order to get the truth out to listeners around the world."

Officers at IRN USA Radio News are Dr. Larry Bates, CEO; Chuck Bates, executive vice-president and news director; Mark Maddoux, vice-president of finance; Tim Maddoux, vice-president of operations; David Maddoux, vice-president / chief technology officer; Robert Jimenez, national manager of affiliate sales; Tiffany Forney, national sales director; John Clemens, Dallas bureau chief; Chee Kang Seng, Singapore bureau chief; and Connie Lawn, White House bureau chief.

"We have seen a lot of other networks become tabloid news rather than hard-hitting news," explains Bates. "At IRN USA Radio News you're going to hear news that will make a difference.

"People aren't really interested in what Britney Spears is wearing or not wearing, or what professional athletes or actors are doing in their private lives. This kind of information really doesn't affect peoples' daily lives. We think there are more important things going on in the world."

For additional information about the merger, or the Information Radio Network, please contact Dr. Larry Bates at 901-573-2844 or drlbates@inforadionet.com.

About Information Radio Network, Incorporated (IRN USA Radio News)

Planned Parenthood: Annual Budget Surpasses $1 Billion; More Preborn Children Killed

Planned Parenthood: Annual Budget Surpasses $1 Billion; More Preborn Children Killed

FRONT ROYAL, Va., March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- "If the current trend continues, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. (PPFA) will command a budget of more than $1 billion in three years," warned Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International (LDI), in 2006. But PPFA's Annual Report for 2006-2007 shows that Scott was two years off the mark.

"Planned Parenthood surpassed the $1 billion mark in the very fiscal year immediately following my 2006 comment," Scott said. "This is shocking and more than a little frightening."

PPFA generated $1.0179 billion in Fiscal Year 2006- 2007, which is an increase of nearly 11 percent over the previous reporting period. In Fiscal Year 2005- 2006, PPFA's budget rose just 2.4 percent over the previous Fiscal Year. One year earlier (2004-2005) that figure was 8.4 percent.

PPFA's massive budget has skyrocketed in part due to a $31.4 million increase in the amount the abortion- committing goliath gets from American taxpayers. In Fiscal Year 2005-2006, government funding increased by nearly 10.8 percent. In Fiscal Year 2006- 2007, taxpayers gave another 10.3 percent, bringing the one year total to $336.7 million. The most recent figures show that 33.1 percent of PPFA's annual revenue comes from taxpayers. In Fiscal Year 2005- 2006 that figure was 33.8 percent.

"This 'not-for-profit' behemoth ends every fiscal year with millions of dollars in 'excess revenue over expenses,'" Scott said, "which is known to regular people as 'profit.'" The 'excess' for 2004-2005 alone was $63 million. In 2005-2006 alone, the excess was $55.8 million. In 2006-2007 alone, the amount was a staggering $114.8 million.

On June 30, 2007, PPFA had net assets valued at $951.8 million, of which $383.1 million was unrestricted and another $160.0 million was temporarily restricted. "This is essentially a savings account," Scott explained. "The money is sitting in a bank and drawing interest that will further advance Planned Parenthood's deadly agenda. Despite these huge sums, the corporation's hierarchy incessantly claims to need more and more tax dollars," Scott said.

The most proficient abortion machine in the United States, PPFA admits to killing 289,750 preborn human beings in 2006 alone (up nearly 9.4 percent from 2005), generating an estimated $125 million. A scant 2,410 Planned Parenthood customers were referred to adoption agencies.

PPFA claims to prevent the "need" for abortion while simultaneously working to increase its share of the abortion market. In 1984, PPFA committed just over 5.5 percent of all abortions in the United States. By 2004 that figure had risen to nearly 20 percent. And its share of the lucrative market continues to increase.

PPFA sold 1,436,846 "emergency" birth control kits in 2006 (nearly 18.0 percent more than in 2005). Every PPFA "clinic" dispenses "emergency" birth control. Most prescribe it over the phone and accept orders over the Internet, without an exam. In the vast majority of cases, "emergency" birth control causes an abortion, but Planned Parenthood wrongly and intentionally claims the drugs are "contraception."

"Some of my colleagues are claiming victory over Planned Parenthood because a few of its local facilities have closed," Scott said. "But the number of affiliates and local 'clinics' has changed very little over the past several years. What we are seeing is merely a calculated reorganization."

"While it is possible for two people to look at the same statistics and come to different conclusions, I just don't see how anyone could reasonably conclude that the Pro-Life Movement is winning against Planned Parenthood," Scott said. "I understand the desire to give pro-life Americans a reason to celebrate--a reason to think positive, but I don't think we should put a positive spin on such devastating statistics. Doing so only serves to mislead and give a false sense of success." Scott called on pro-life/pro-family leaders to give their fellow pro-life advocates the truth and remind them that "we are called to be faithful, even when doing so is difficult."

"Nobody would like to be able to say we are putting Planned Parenthood out of business more than me, but we need to acknowledge that we are failing-- miserably. But this does not mean a successful strategy does not exist."

"If the Pro-Life Movement is ever going to offering a serious challenge to Planned Parenthood's deadly agenda, we need to come together in mind and spirit," Scott said. "It's time we joined in prayer because we need God's help in developing a strategy that will have the kind of impact that is needed. I have faith that God will lead, but we need to actively seek Him and be open to His call. It is also time we joined in deed to advance a new strategy."

An affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), PPFA describes itself as the world's oldest and largest "reproductive health care" business. Founded in 1916 by elitist and eugenics advocate Margaret Higgins Sanger, it began as the nation's first birth control facility.

PPFA argues that "everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child..." It pushes for laws and constitutional amendments that guarantee "reproductive freedom," a phrase encompassing unlimited birth control and abortion for everyone, no matter how young.

New Stage Play Writer, Director, and Producer Emerges in the Black Circuit. Photo: Ann-Maria A Thomas, Christian Newswire

African American actors, debut May 3rd, 2008 in Tampa, Florida, "She Is Not Who I Thought...She Is My Mother." 3 mothers, 3 decisions and 1 hope. When the secrets are unexpectedly revealed, trust is broken and a family's love is put to the ultimate test.

TAMPA, March 31 /Christian Newswire/ -- Local stage play with a cast of dynamic African American actors, debut May 3rd, 2008 in Tampa, Florida, "She Is Not Who I Thought...She Is My Mother." 3 mothers, 3 decisions and 1 hope. When the secrets are unexpectedly revealed, trust is broken and a family's love is put to the ultimate test.

Tyler Perry, known for his films and numerous stage plays (featuring the colorful "tell it like it is" Madea), is one of the many well received successful writers, directors, and producers in the black circuit. Thus saying, a new face has emerged among us bringing originality and experience to the community. "There is a great need in the Greater Tampa Bay Area for Performing Arts that not only entertains, but compels us to self-examination resulting in self-purpose."

Ann Thomas is the writer, producer, and director of the upcoming stage play "She Is Not Who I Thought... She is My Mother" debut May 3, 2008. Her versatility speaks for itself. She has performed in various stage plays, is a writer, inspirational speaker, singer, rapper, and former dancer. She is the published author of various short stories, poems, articles, and mini productions.

Black theater art has graced our stages for over nine decades. It's thought provoking, captivating, entertaining, and uplifting. Every stage play tells a story of its own - real issues for real people. Creating a sense of association and hope.

Mothers have always had a tremendous responsibility in society, whether single or married. And too often lose themselves in an unhealthy cycle of over protectiveness and self-preservation. Thus, the superwoman persona rears its self-dependent head. The mothers in this stage play love their children with all of their hearts, but each hide a deep secret to protect them. When the secrets are revealed, feelings are torn and trust is broken.

Hiding the truth only causes pain and division once revealed. It is time to break the generational cycles of unnecessary hurt. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and do everything in between! Don't miss "She is Not Who I Thought... She is My Mother" debut May 3, 2008. Brought to you by our very own Ann Thomas with MindBodyandSoul Productions. Tickets are on sale now at a special pre-sale price of $16.50. SEATING IS LIMITED. Visit: www.mindbodyandsoulproductions.com for more information and to purchase tickets.

Internet Evangelist Receives Death Threats from Muslims for Posting Anti-Muslim Film 'Fitna'

Internet Evangelist Receives Death Threats from Muslims for Posting Anti-Muslim Film 'Fitna'

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Bill Keller, the world's leading Internet Evangelist and the founder of LivePrayer.com, has received numerous death threats from Muslims who want him dead for posting the controversial anti- Muslim movie Fitna on his website. Fitna is a film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Dutch parliament. The movie offers his view on Islam and the Qur'an.

The film's title comes from the Arabic word fitna which is used to describe "disagreement and division among people", or a "test of faith in times of trial". The sixteen minute movie shows a selection of Suras from the Qur'an, interspersed with partial newspaper clippings and media clips. The movie is accompanied by music from the Peer Gynt suite by Edvard Grieg.

When asked why Liveprayer would put such a movie on their website Keller responded, "People have been lulled to sleep thinking that terror is caused by a handful of extremists. That is not the case. All Muslims read from the same book, and to obey 'allah,' are expected to obey what their holy book teaches. That includes death to all infidels, or those who won't covert to their false religion, and ruling the world. This film is very graphic, but people need to see and know what Islam is really about, converting the world to their false beliefs through terror and death!"

LiveLeak, a British video-sharing website pulled the movie after the organization reported "serious" threats to its staff members. "Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly affect the safety of some staff members, LiveLeak has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers. This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else," the organization said.

The movie can be viewed at: http://liveprayer.com/fitna.cfm

Personalized Prayer Cards Make the Perfect Remembrance Gift

Personalized Prayer Cards Make the Perfect Remembrance Gift

COLORADO SPRINGS, March 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- When Aquinas and More Catholic Goods started printing holy cards five years ago there wasn't very much demand for them. "During our busiest times we were only printing a couple of orders a week but now we are printing hundreds of orders a year," said Ian Rutherford, owner of Aquinas and More. "The demand has been growing steadily as interest in the cards for First Communions, Confirmations, Baptisms and Weddings has increased."

You can find prayer cards everywhere - tucked in an old Missal, in pews at church, in vast quantities at your local Catholic store and, increasingly, at special events.

While prayer cards in the form of wood cuts had been manufactured since the 1400's, the invention of lithography in 1796 made it possible to print detailed paper prints in large quantities. The Benziger Brothers, based in Switzerland, were some of the first to print holy cards in large quantities. These typically had the image of a saint on one side and a prayer to the saint on the other.

In the past, personalized cards - ones with printing on the back commemorating a special event - were generally confined to ordinations and funerals because the cost was too high and frequently it wasn't possible to find a printer willing to print in small quantities. With modern technology it is now possible to get professional quality prayer cards in small quantities at a very reasonable cost.

Ordering prayer cards is very simple. The website offers dozens of designs to choose from and a form that works just like a word processor so a customer can type in the text, format it and even add color. "We wanted to make the whole process as simple as possible," said Rutherford. "When the customer is finished creating the card, they can see exactly what the end result will look like. We even have some standard prayers that they can select from and edit on the screen. There are other personalized prayer card suppliers on-line but none of them offers the customer full control over the finished product."

Personalized prayer cards can be ordered at any time of the year for any event but customers need to plan ahead as cards can take up to three weeks to print.

International Organizations Call for Religious Freedom and Global Prayer for China

International Organizations Call for Religious Freedom and Global Prayer for China

ZURICH, March 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- In a historic move, key organizations that work with the persecuted church around the world launched a global campaign calling for prayer for China. In what is called "The Zurich Statement," the Religious Liberty Partnership (RLP), with member organizations that include China Aid Association, Open Doors International, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, the Voice of the Martyrs (Canada), and the Religious Liberty Commission of World Evangelical Alliance, have called the worldwide Christian community to pray for China during this Summer Olympics year.

The Zurich Statement acknowledges some important progress made in China over the past few decades and raises the hope that this will translate into the removal of remaining obstacles to the full expression of faith and an end to serious violations of religious freedom. In addition, the Statement recognizes potential of the Chinese nation as a significant political and economic force for the furtherance of regional and global peace.

"This historic statement reaffirms the solidarity of the international Christian community with the Chinese faithful especially the persecuted House Church," said Bob Fu who represents China Aid at the Zurich meeting, "We pray the true religious freedom in China will finally be realized soon."

"The call for prayer is rooted in the fact that the RLP felt it was time to acknowledge some progress in China's attitude toward religious liberty and also the part Christians play at all levels of Chinese society," stated Mervyn Thomas, CEO of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, UK, and Chairman of the RLP leadership team. "There is still a very long way to go and religious freedom is something very alien to many Christians in China. However Christians all over the world have been praying for their Chinese family for many years and I believe we are beginning to see the impact of those prayers today."

"What a change we have seen in the nearly 30 years since my first visit to China," said Johan Compajen of Open Doors International in Holland and a member of the RLP leadership team. "In spite of many obstacles, the Church in China has multiplied. What seemed impossible in the past has happened because around the world we joined the Chinese Christians in prayer and our Chinese brothers and sisters have been willing to pay the price for following Jesus. If we continue to pray, we may be surprised by what God will do in the coming 30 years."

The Religious Liberty Partnership (RLP) is a collaborative effort of Christian organizations focused on religious liberty. The RLP seeks to more intentionally work together in addressing advocacy and in raising the awareness of religious persecution globally. The current membership of the RLP is listed on the Zurich Statement.

Ben Stein's Controversial Film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed Tops the Blogosphere

Ben Stein's Controversial Film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed Tops the Blogosphere
Scientists Get "Caught" Trying to Sneak Into Stein's Movie

LOS ANGELES, March 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- According to Technoranati's BlogPulse which surveys the hottest topics and sites in the world of blogs, a site featuring Ben Stein's controversial new film Expelled is the #1 blog on the net.

The web traffic spiked when P.Z. Meyers, a biology professor at the University of Minnesota, Morris, attempted to sneak into a private, invitation-only screening of Ben Stein's highly controversial upcoming movie, EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed (www.expelledthemovie.com). But Myers, who is an outspoken atheist and author of the science blog "Pharyngula" got caught and has used his blog to bitterly complain about not being allowed to see the film before its release.

Myers, who was interviewed in Expelled, has apparently been asking supporters to sneak into the private screenings which are being conducted by marketing company Motive Entertainment (www.motivemarketing.biz; which handled grassroots marketing for blockbusters The Passion of the Christ and Chronicles of Narnia) for various leaders as part of the grass roots marketing of the film.

When confronted at the screening by Myers' friend Richard Dawkins, a prominent atheist who is himself featured in the film, as to why Myers was "expelled" from the screening, producer Mark Mathis replied that the producers were eager for Myers to screen the film but only after he had paid $10 to watch it with the rest of America after it releases on April 18th.

Mathis saw rich irony in Myers' discontent with being "expelled" from Expelled:
"It was amazing to see the reaction of Myers, Richard Dawkins and their friends when one of them wasn't allowed to screen a film. Yet these men applaud the fact that throughout the nation, professors are fired from their jobs and permanently excluded from their profession for questioning Darwinism."

"We can't wait for all Americans, including our friend P.Z. Myers, to see the film when it opens on April 18th," noted executive producer Logan Craft of Premise Media. "We'll even throw in some free popcorn for P.Z. if he'll tell us which theater he'll be attending."

"I hope PZ's experience has helped him see the light. He's distraught because he could not see a movie," noted Mathis. "What if he wasn't allowed to teach on a college campus or was denied tenure? Maybe he'll think twice before he starts demanding more professors be blacklisted and expelled simply because they question the adequacy of Darwin's theory."

Ben Stein's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed opens nationwide on April 18th. Learn more at www.ExpelledTheMovie.com and www.GetExpelled.com.

American Bible Society Commemorates the Fortieth Anniversary of the Death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

American Bible Society Commemorates the Fortieth Anniversary of the Death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
NEW YORK, March 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following is a statement by the Rev. Dr. Paul Irwin, President, American Bible Society:

Two score years ago, the voice of a prophet was stilled in our land. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was killed in the midst of calling for America to live up to the true meaning of the concept that all people are created equal. His mission was based squarely on his faith in God and the message of the Bible that God loves all of us in this world, regardless of our ethnicity or where our ancestors lived before they came to these shores.

Dr. King's vision was of a kingdom of peace for all nations of the earth. As it says in the biblical book of Amos (5.24 Contemporary English Version), "Let justice and fairness flow like a river that never runs dry."

The American Bible Society has stood firmly against injustice and racism. And the legacy of agents from the Bible Society in the South, who brought Bibles to African Americans and their churches, serves as a reminder that each of us, in our own ways, can make a difference in enabling the empowerment of all. God's Word calls us to complete the work that needs to be done.

Because we are called to love God and love each other, the dream of Dr. King lives on and his voice continues to rally people to speak for justice, combat racism and to advocate for non-violent change. I pray that this solemn occasion of the death of Dr. King forty years ago will commit us to unity and understanding and to give thanks to God who is the source of the gifts of love, forgiveness, mercy and redemption.

Founded in 1816 and headquartered in New York City, the mission of the American Bible Society is to make the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so that all people may experience its life-changing message. The American Bible Society Web site is www.Bibles.com.

News Release from Fireproof the Movie

A UNION OF MARRIAGE ADVOCATES
I Now Pronounce the "Fireproof" Movie a Movement

ALBANY, Ga., March 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Fireproof," www.FireprooftheMovie.com, the new action/relationship film from the creators of "Facing the Giants" and "Flywheel," releases this September from Sherwood Pictures and Provident Films. Already the movie is uniting marriage advocates from across the U.S.

National groups such as Focus on the Family, Outreach, FamilyLife, The Marriage CoMission, America's Family Coaches, AMFM, Marriage Alive Communications, and MarriageToday endorse the movie and are urging their constituencies to see it. Influencers such as marriage expert Gary Smalley and Bubba Cathy of Chick-fil-A are also working to spread the word.

It's no secret that U.S. marriages are in crisis. The U.S. Census Bureau and marriage organizations vary on the stats but agree that nearly half of all weddings lead to divorce--with rates highest in the Bible belt. Some 25 percent of U.S. adults divorce at least once; and given the abundance of poor marriages, many couples skip it outright.

"Fireproof" mirrors the problems of many marriages, in this case through a firefighter whose high-stress job spills into his home life. Hitting on pain points common to married life--from indifference to insults to emotional affairs and internet porn--the story opens with a couple's disintegration.

"Most movies are about relationships that lead to marriage," Michael Catt, of Sherwood Pictures said. "'Fireproof' picks up seven years into a marriage headed for divorce. And the question is: Can a cold marriage revive? Why stay together?"

Given that firefighters have one of the nation's highest divorce rates, "Fireproof" also has the support of many firefighters and related organizations. John White, former head of the Los Angeles Fire Department's Search & Rescue Team, is urging firefighters across the country to see it.

Bubba Cathy of Chick-fil-A doubles as movie promoter to every audience he addresses: "Since visiting the 'Fireproof' set, I've been Fireproof's biggest fan," he says. "On top of a powerful message and the potential to change lives and marriages, this is one great movie!"

People like Bob Waliszewski, director of Focus on the Family's Plugged in and Scott Evans, founder and CEO of Outreach, Inc., are excited about the movie's potential to inspire people to want to heal their marriages and actually show them how. "The clips have me excited about the potential of this film to give hope to struggling marriages," Waliszewski said.

"We all know marriages are in trouble," Evans said. "[What] a powerful and relevant way to address the need and provide hope for healing."

Dr. Jeff S. Fray, chair of The Marriage CoMission, echoes Evans and Waliszewski: "Fireproof's challenge to 'never leave your partner behind' brings to us a dramatic experience of the power of sacrifice and forgiveness. I expect this film to give viewers more confidence that great marriages can be a reality."

Dennis Rainey, president of FamilyLife, sees this one movie's impact far beyond weekend movie- going. "'Fireproof' is going to do more than entertain and stir hearts when it comes to movie theaters," he said.

"This movie is about fireproofing your most important earthly relationship," Executive Producer Jim McBride says on behalf of the filmmakers. "Our hope and prayer is that people will be touched by the story of Caleb and Catherine and commit to fireproofing their marriages--no matter what state those marriages are currently in."

Sherwood's aim to "reach the world from Albany, GA" rides on first-rate entertainment packing powerful messages. Its first movie, "Flywheel," explored business integrity. "Facing the Giants" tackled personal fear and failure. Now "Fireproof" asks what makes a true hero.

U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey Asked to Investigate Matter

U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey Asked to Investigate Matter of State Security in Tennessee

TELLICO PLAINS, Tenn., March 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Citizens against Corruption has filed a formal letter of inquiry to the U.S. Attorney General in Washington D.C. The letter addresses public officials having personal agendas contrary to the security of the state.

Thousands of citizens across the state of Tennessee are asking for the resignation of Tennessee State Attorney Robert E. Cooper Jr. ( www.christiannewswire.com/news/442125254.html) and an investigation into members of the Tennessee State Commission ( www.christiannewswire.com/news/493393249.html) and members of the Tennessee Bar Association for public corruption.

According to native Tennessee reporters Charles C. Thompson II and Tony Hays, "A senior FBI official said public corruption in Tennessee was 'too extensive' to successfully prosecute... according to a career undercover policeman." Michael Downie, the undercover policeman, said, "I really wanted to work in Tennessee, but I came to understand that Tennessee is an evil place and will stay that way as long as the corrupt justice system is protected by the likes of the TBI and the FBI." Thompson is a network news veteran, both as a founding producer of ABC's "20/20" and as Mike Wallace's producer at CBS's "60 Minutes." Hays is an experienced journalist whose recent 20-part series on narcotics trafficking received an award from the Tennessee Press Association.

Operation Crooked Highway, Tennessee Waltz, Tarnished Blue, Tarnished Shield and Main Street Sweeper were investigations conducted by the FBI that resulted in Tennessee State Senators, Congressman and public officials being convicted and sentenced. See details ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Tennessee_ Waltz).

Numerous complaints about public officials being involved in murder, attempted murder ( www.christiannewswire.com/news/108493175.html), embezzlement, fraud, abuse of the elderly ( www.conservatorshipabuse.com) and religious discrimination ( www.christiannewswire.com/news/402625100.html) are just a few of the thousands of complaints filed by citizens in Tennessee this year. It's evident by court documents and FBI investigations that the Tennessee Judiciary is out of control, not having a viable constitutional system of checks and balances to hold it accountable. It was never the intention of the founding fathers for the judiciary to become an unbridled horse.

Every American citizen is endowed with an inherent right and responsibility to hold public officials accountable. For further information visit: www.tnccc.com.

New Catholic Website Puts Economic Life in Path to Holiness

New Catholic Website Puts Economic Life in Path to Holiness

Trinity Fiduciary Partners Launches Dynamic Web Portal for Financial, Business and Investment Interests

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Trinity Fiduciary Partners understands a basic principle of finance - our economic life is not separate from our faith.

As Catholics and other Christians around the world enjoy the first fruits of Easter week, Trinity Fiduciary Partners announces the launch of a dynamic and informational web portal to assist Catholics in making informed choices with their money. As the Lenten season began, Pope Benedict reminded people of goodwill that "We are not owners but rather administrators of the goods we possess" and that what we have is provided to us "through divine goodness" and is a "means through which the Lord calls each one of us to act as a steward of His providence for our neighbor."

As we enter 50 days of Easter, the Holy Father is again reminding Catholics of their responsibility as stewards to their own particular blessings. In his Easter message he said, "If with humble trust we draw near to him, we encounter in his gaze the response to the deepest longings of our heart: to know God and to establish with him a living relationship in an authentic communion of love, which can fill our lives, our interpersonal and social relations with that same love."

To help Catholics recognize that their economic life is part of how they live out their faith in an authentic communion of love, Trinity has developed a comprehensive website. InvestCatholic.com is a financial web portal where interested individuals can get up-to-the-minute financial, economic, and investment information, find a financial advisor that honors Catholic principles, read financial blogs and listen to podcasts on business, investment, and faith matters. For the first time, values-conscious individuals have a place to go on the internet for financial information explained with Catholic sensibility because the advisors and managers contributing to InvestCatholic.com analyze the relevant information from a Catholic perspective.

"Our mission is to provide content that delivers relevant and practical tools to help Catholics understand the impact their financial decisions have on the culture and their own path to holiness," says Sam Saladino, Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Fiduciary Partners. "Every dollar put into the economy makes a statement and each individual has a responsibility to use their financial resources well."

The senior partners at Trinity Fiduciary Partners are available for interviews. Please contact Ashley Walker at 678-990-9032 or Christine Schicker at 404-610- 8871, both with The Maximus Group.

GROVE CITY, Penn., March 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- What can churches tell their congregants about values voting, the issues of the day, and how church and state can work together - and should they work together? Where does the nexus of religion and politics lie?

Senator Obama's Level of Giving to Charity Calls into Question his Commitment to the Poor

Senator Obama's Level of Giving to Charity Calls into Question his Commitment to the Poor

WASHINGTON, March 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- Senator Obama's 1% giving to charity calls into question his commitment to the poor and needy and exposes his lack of conviction to the most vulnerable in our society.

Recent tax returns made public by Senator Obama, from 2000 though 2004, show that he gave less than 1% of his income to charitable causes.

Senator Obama has campaigned on the theme of change and reaching out to the most needy and broken in our society, but he is not willing to "put his money where his mouth is" on the issue of social justice.

Sadly, Senator Obama appears to be just another hypocritical politician saying one thing on the campaign trail and living a lifestyle that contradicts his policies.

Senator Obama might want to change his campaign slogan from "Yes we can!" to "No I wouldn't!"

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "Americans are growing weary of politicians who say one thing on the campaign trail but live their personal lives in sharp contrast to their public views. A politician's private life should match their public rhetoric. How often do we hear of our elected officials lecturing us on global warming and then flying in private jets and driving large SUVs. Or, public officials talking about reaching out to the poor and living in mansions and spending hundreds of dollars on haircuts.

"Sadly, Senator Obama now falls into that category of politicians not 'practicing what they preach.' By giving less than 1% of his income to charitable causes, he has shown a profound lack of compassion for the poor and needy. He appears to be just another hypocritical leader who demands from others what he is unwilling to do himself. Our elected officials should never be able to separate public policy from private lifestyle. So, the next time you hear Senator Obama talking about social programs realize he has no interest in getting personally involved. He only wants your money."

America Continues to Be Inspired by the Courage, Dedication and Sacrifice of Christian Soldier

Bush States, 'America Continues to Be Inspired by the Courage, Dedication and Sacrifice of Christian Soldier'

MEDIA ADVISORY, March 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- In a letter to author of "Ordinary Patriot, The Christian Child at War", Carol J. Posner, President Bush expressed his appreciation to her son, Jesse and all the men and women in the Armed forces after receiving book containing wartime communication.

Wartime communication is poignant and stirring in a way nothing else can possibly be. What seems to be missing in most eyewitness accounts are responses from the recipients. When those recipients are a Christian family, there is an emotional and spiritual battle that transcends mere historical significance. Told as if sharing with friends, "Ordinary Patriot" is more than a simple memoir. It is a chronicle with flesh on it, a wartime "coming of age" told through letters, phone calls and emails from the front lines and the reactions of those back home. Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom can at last be observed from a different perspective, sans bias and politics. Simply put, it is the musings of a young American Christian, with a bit of humor and a lot of determination to survive, to return to the life and country he was treasuring for the first time.

Carol J. Posner is the mother of an American Soldier. Wife, mother of three, kidney transplant patient for 33 years and victim of violence, she shares her life's experiences by speaking and writing, in hopes of reaching out to others who are struggling. She serves in the Women's, Audio-Visual, Music and Small Group ministries at Lawndale Christian Church, in Lawndale, California, where she also works as Church Secretary. Carol lives in Torrance, California with her husband, Joel, daughter, Leora, and "The Herd." (A Doberman, a Boxer, 2 Chihuahuas and a Siamese cat)

Conservative Blacks Speak Out with New Online Magazine

Conservative Blacks Speak Out with New Online Magazine

CHICAGO, March 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- Conservative black Americans, often the target of ridicule by Barack Obama's pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, insist their voices be heard in the ongoing race relations discussion, Dr. Eric Wallace, founder of Wallace Multimedia Group, said today.

"Rev. Wright's uncomplimentary comments about accomplished national black conservatives such as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas reveal an ideological struggle among African-Americans," Dr. Wallace said. "He owes black conservatives an apology for insulting all of us when he mocked Dr. Rice and Judge Thomas."

Last Tuesday presidential candidate Barack Obama condemned Wright's most incendiary remarks made in the pulpit of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, wherein Wright said America's "chickens have come home to roost," in wake of the 9-11 attacks and "God D*** America" because of past racial injustices. Obama did not specifically condemn Wright's derogatory comments about black conservatives.

Dr. Wallace said Rev. Wright does not speak for all blacks in America, and that this controversy presents an opportunity for blacks to share other political perspectives, especially those which counter Wright's radical leftist viewpoints.

"American blacks are not monolithic. There's a considerable portion of us committed to the ideals of limited government, individual rights, free markets and traditional family values. Just because Dr. Wright doesn't approve of our views does not excuse his disrespect for those who have the same skin color, but hold different political persuasions," Dr. Wallace, a Chicago suburban resident, said.

In March, Wallace Multimedia Group launched its premiere issue of Freedom's Journal Magazine, a brand new online bi-monthly publication that incorporates the latest computer technology with a black conservative political perspective.

"We are pleased that national conservatives such as Herman Cain, Star Parker and Armstrong Williams agreed to join our efforts by contributing to our first Freedom's Journal Magazine," Dr. Wallace said. "They represent the myriad of bright, gifted leaders that encourage black Americans to accentuate natural abilities and encourage independence from government programs and confidence in themselves. Freedom's Journal Magazine is an easy first step in tapping into the bountiful intellectual leadership readily available to black conservatives."

Online access to Freedom's Journal Magazine is available for $3 an issue, $15 per year or $26 for two years. Freedom's Journal Magazine website may be found at: www.freedomsjournalmagazine.com.

Dr. Eric Wallace, founder of Wallace Multimedia in Matteson, IL, is chairman of the African-American Republican Council of Illinois and serves on local commissions and advisory boards. His doctorate degree is in Biblical Studies.

Glorieta Summer Camps Provide Adventure, Individual Attention

Glorieta Summer Camps Provide Adventure, Individual Attention

GLORIETA, N.M., March 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- Youth from three states are registered to attend LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center's first summer camps in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe, N.M. As with LifeWay's Ridgecrest summer camps near Asheville, N.C., which are running at nearly 100% occupancy, each session at Glorieta will have a strong emphasis on individual campers, and activities are designed with each specific age group in mind.

Glorieta's 2008 summer camps are made up of two separate camps, Camp Glorieta for Boys and Camp Glorieta for Girls. Both facilities are owned and operated by LifeWay Christian Resources.

"Our focus is to develop boys and girls physically, mentally, socially and spiritually while honoring Christ in all that we do, having a great time while doing it and providing a camp program of excellence," said Hal Hill, director of LifeWay Summer Camps and Glorieta Conference Center.

According to Hill, staff will go the extra mile by taking time to walk with campers when they need a friend, being exceptionally patient in teaching a new skill and calling or e-mailing them during the school year just to check in.

"Our staff's goal is for each camper who comes through our gates to know that he or she is loved unconditionally. We want our campers to know that God has created each of them as individuals, with different gifts and traits that only they possess," he said.

The camps are founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and Glorieta camp staff will seek to show the love, grace and truth of Him in all that they do.

"The lives of our staff are called to reflect God in such a way that the lives of their campers will be transformed. That's why love for Jesus Christ and young people is our primary criteria for hiring our carefully selected staff," Hill noted.

"Our goal is to help campers build their relationships with God in a safe, fun-filled environment and build memories that will last a lifetime," he added.

Starter camp, which was introduced last summer at Ridgecrest, will kick off the Glorieta camps June 15- 20. A second session runs from July 20-25.

Starter camp is designed to accommodate those who would like a "taste" of camp but who may not be ready for a full two-week experience. Each day of starter camp gives a child an opportunity to enjoy many great aspects of camp, but to do so with more intensive supervision and instruction.

The biggest difference between starter camp and a normal two-week camp is that campers will rotate through skill areas each day with both their counselor and cabin.

Two-week camp sessions will take place June 22- July 4 and July 6-18. A four-week session will take place June 22-July 18.

For more information call 866.794.CAMP or visit www.glorietacamps.com.
