Healthcare & the Common Good: A New Perspective on the Healthcare Dilemma
CHICAGO, July 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- As the rising cost of healthcare and the necessity of healthcare reform continue to dominate the political scene, the Center seeks to reframe this debate from the perspective of the common good. It is with this framework in mind that the Center held a networking event followed by a full- day consultation with policy organizations, think tanks, and leaders in bioethics and Christian higher education. The consultation, held in conjunction with the Stead Center (Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary), provided a venue for discussion and ultimately laid the groundwork for our upcoming 15th Annual Summer Conference, Healthcare and the Common Good.
This conference will identify the pressure points in the current domestic healthcare system, examining the economic, educational and care issues surrounding this complex topic. Beyond merely identifying problem areas, the conference also will provide a programmatic vision of the common good as well as a symposium of constructive proposals for re- envisioning policy, health and care all of which emerge from this framework of the common good.
