Inspirational Music Conveys the Purpose of Christmas

Companion CD to Pastor Rick Warren's New Book, 'The Purpose of Christmas,' Now Available

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Nov. 4 /Christian Newswire/ -- "The Purpose of Christmas" CD, the music companion to Dr. Rick Warren's newest book with the same title released today from Howard Publishers at retailers nationwide, is now available through an exclusive arrangement with the nation's largest retailer, Wal- Mart. All net proceeds will benefit The PEACE Plan, a global initiative created by Warren, pastor of Saddleback Valley Community Church in Southern California and author of "The Purpose Driven Life."

This 16-track CD intertwines inspirational Christmas songs, sung by such well- known artists as Sarah McLachlan, Martina McBride, ThirdDay and Vince Gill, with inspiring narrative from Warren explaining the three purposes of Christmas - celebration, salvation and reconciliation - as detailed in his book, "The Purpose of Christmas."

The concept of "The Purpose of Christmas" CD was developed around Warren's 2006 Christmas message, which was given at Saddleback Church and broadcast to the nation via the FOX News Network. During this message, Warren described how Christmas is a time to celebrate that God loves you, God is with you and God is for you; a time to understand and admit that Jesus came to save you from something, for something and by something; and a time to reconcile with those around you and with God by recognizing that Jesus offers you peace with God, peace of God and peace with others.
