Local Film Producer Runs His Own Campaign not About Politics, but About Worldviews
MEDIA ADVISORY, April 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- In today's politically charged environment, the stakes could not be any higher. The forthcoming presidential election is shaping up to be one of the most polarizing elections in modern history. Those who esteem faith and family values are increasingly pitted against those who are as resolute in their commitment to the separation of church and state. Interestingly enough, most political pundits agree--regardless of which side they favor--that this next election will literally change the direction this great nation of ours is heading. One man, Gregg Zappone, of Atlanta, GA, is driven to produce a movie challenging all Americans to consider something more significant than voting for one's political party, whether Republican or Democrat or Independent (www.thepresidentmovie.net). He believes people need to base their decision on something deeper--the candidates' worldview. A worldview, as Zappone explains, is the collection of beliefs a person holds about life and the universe which effects how they perceive and interpret the world around them.
Zappone's film, The President, is based upon the novel of the same name by Parker Hudson. What sets this project apart from the film industry pack is that the producer is an analyst at a commercial real estate finance company with no prior film production experience. But Zappone is on a mission. He is passionate about communicating biblical truth to American moviegoers through film.
Zappone's goal is to release the film in theatres sometime in 2009. He is operating on faith that God will provide all the necessary resources, from funding to people. In fact, Zappone is already experiencing divine assistance: he has managed to obtain the rights to the book, raise $24,000, hire a writer, and make inroads into the Hollywood film industry.
"The core message of the movie to Christians in America today", says Zappone, "is intentionally choose your worldview, biblical or secular, because we all live by one, and consider its consequences. Will you, as a Christian, serve Christ with your everyday choices, your vote and your wallet? On what basis will you choose those who will govern this nation and create its laws?" Zappone is not afraid to ask the tough questions.
By making this movie, Zappone is running his own campaign of sorts--not for political office, but to communicate biblical truth in the entertainment industry on a much larger scale than has previously been done.
Could The President actually raise the awareness of the way people in the faith community make their decisions when it comes to their vote? "The real question," asks Zappone, "is are we willing to allow our faith to influence our politics and our lives?" Great question...
