Salem Communications Representative Discovers One Million Children

Salem Communications Representative Discovers One Million Children

VENTURA, Calif., April 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- When Gospel Light Worldwide, the international children's ministry, launched their One Million Children storytelling website in March, they never dreamed that they would be partnering with Salem Communications the very next month.

Susan Hart, a Salem Radio Representative for Salem Communications picked up the One Million Children launch hot off the newswire and immediately went to the check things out. She was delighted at what she discovered and immediately contacted Gospel Light Worldwide's president, Marc Stein, with an idea.

Her idea was to migrate a very successful ministry radio-advertising model to the Internet. It did not take long to convince Stein of the value of the idea since he personally participated in a similar "Bibles to Africa" radio promotion when serving as a National Director for the Bible League.

Hart said, "Everything was in place. One Million Children has touching stories, an easy to understand message and one of the best 'asks' I have ever seen. It was all dressed up and ready to go. I just had to package it in a way that made sense to everyone involved."

The new campaign is part strategic partnering, part cause marketing with an Internet twist. In essence, Hart and Salem had been looking for a web based ministry partner in terms of natural alignment with the Salem base, ease of fitting into their existing business operations and ultimately, the upside potential.

As the Internet face for the more established Gospel Light Worldwide, One Million Children was an excellent fit and Hart suggested a pilot project with WRFD, 880 AM, in Columbus, Ohio. For a closer look at the pilot project, please visit: WRFD and www.onemillionchildren.com/wrfd.

Stein said, "We feel so blessed. Our ministry would not exist without partnerships. and we are looking forward to great things with Salem. In 2007, we strategically narrowed our focus and intentionally directed resources for the greatest leverage, sustainability and impact. One of those initiatives was One Million Children. Who knows what the Lord intends?"

Gospel Light Worldwide is the not-for-profit 501(c)3 sister ministry to Gospel Light and Regal Books based in Ventura, California. They are currently managing or participating in 16 projects focused in four key regions of the world: Asia, Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Africa.
