Stopping for Directions
ENUMCLAW, Wash., July 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Centuries ago men built large monuments as landmarks and learned to read the stars in order to avoid getting lost. Detailed maps came next. As long as you knew where you were, which direction you were pointed and had decent vision, maps did the trick for countless generations. Some of us would rather skip the map and ask for directions, hoping they don't lead us down the wrong road. According to HowStuffWorks.com, "Things are much, much easier today. For less than $100, you can get a pocket-sized gadget that will tell you exactly where you are on earth at any moment. As long as you have a GPS receiver and a clear view of the sky, you'll never be lost again."*
But what system do we use when we need directions in life? There is no map out of the confusion of life and others' directions often mislead us. Author Kobus Genis offers an answer in his new book "The Bible as Your GPS". As Genis says "Our journey through life often leads us to unknown paths. We know that life can have rather sharp edges and that pain and sorrow are part of our existence. It is therefore not always easy to find our way in life. The Bible helps us to stay on course." He offers valuable insight into how a person can learn to see the Bible as exciting, uplifting, and still relevant for today rather than frustrating and confusing. Short devotional readings reflect real life issues that include biblically-based answers. Genis encourages his readers to study the whole Bible chronologically, to use it as a daily guide and think of it as their personal GPS--God Positioning System.
