Economic Advisor Gary Moore Re-envisions Stewardship
MEDIA ADVISORY, July 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- Gary Moore--author of Faithful Finances 101, advisor to some of America's largest mega-churches, and a Wall Street success mentored by the late Sir John Templeton--has granted an exclusive interview to the blog Faith and Fumbles on re-envisioning Christian stewardship.
"I'm trying to reclaim the biblical notion that stewardship is not simply ecclesiastical giving," says Moore, "but how we manage 100 percent of our time, talent, and treasure, particularly treasure."
Moore is not interested in teaching "capitalism with a Christian shellacking." His goal is to reform the way the church fundamentally talks about, and trains its ministers in, finance. Among the programs he has launched and discussed in this interview is Financial Seminary.
The consequences for failing to do so are certain: "Sooner or later, probably sooner than we hope, the church and its related institutions will be forced to deal with the world outside its four walls," he says. "The more-educated boomers insist on relevancy and effectiveness, and most boomers trained in the efficiencies of capitalism do not immediately associate those concepts with the church."
