Search for missing French fisherman
LONDON, May 21, 2008/3mnewswire.org/ -- A search is underway 60 miles northwest of the Isles of Scilly for a French fisherman.
Falmouth Coastguard received a Mayday from the skipper of the 34 metre fishing vessel 'Tourmalet' stating that one of their 7 crew had fallen overboard. A Rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was scrambled and 5 French fishing vessels are assisting with the search, which is being coordinated by Falmouth Coastguard with the assistance of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Corsen in France. A British warship is currently making its way to the scene to assist with the search.
Andy Cattrell, Watch Manager at Falmouth Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, says:
"We took the call at 7:32pm from the skipper of the fishing vessel informing us they had a man overboard. We are currently coordinating a thorough search of the area."
