6th Annual 'Walk/Run for Hungry Children' Gives Hope to Thousands of Needy Children
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., May 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Bright Hope International, a non-profit relief and development organization, is hosting its sixth annual "Run for Hungry Children" on Saturday, May 17th simultaneously in three locations throughout Illinois: Cabela's in Hoffman Estates, Wheaton Academy in West Chicago and Washington Park Pavilion in Springfield. All proceeds from the event will help orphans and vulnerable children in the poorest regions of the world.
Countries around the globe are witnessing new and alarming levels of hunger --- largely due to food prices reaching their highest levels since 1945. This crisis, dubbed by some as a "silent tsunami", is claiming the lives of children and families in record numbers - an estimated one every five seconds.
"The current level of misery in developing countries has gone beyond anything we could imagine. I have high hopes for this year's event, to help bring immediate relief to needy and vulnerable children in Haiti, Africa and Asia." said Craig Dyer, president of Bright Hope International.
"Already we've raised over $30,000 in registration fees and donations," he added. "If you aren't close enough to attend one of the events, you can still play a part --- by raising funds on line and getting friends and family to participate. No matter where you live, we can all be part of the solution by providing immediate food supplies to children and families. We hope to expand the number of event locations in the coming years, so we can help facilitate even greater impact for the poor."
Every dollar raised through the 3K Walk and 5K Run will go toward caring for hungry children who are associated with Bright Hope's projects around the world.
