Vision America Action Head Calls on 9th Circuit Porn Judge to Resign
MEDIA ADVISORY, June 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Vision America Action President Rick Scarborough said he was "disgusted" by recent revelations that the chief justice of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had posted pornographic pictures and images on his website.
Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times disclosed that Judge Alex Kozinski had posted on his publicly accessible website images which included sexual- fetish videos and bestiality. Kozinski told the Times he wasn't aware the public could access those particular pages on his site.
"That's irrelevant," Scarborough commented. "Why is a federal judge collecting pornography and displaying it anywhere? Who did he post these images for -- his friends, his family, his colleagues?"
A Reagan-appointee, Kozinski has been presiding over a highly publicized obscenity trail, which he suspended for 48 hours at the prosecution's request. The district attorney handling the case said he saw a potential conflict of interest for a judge with a sexually explicit website to hear this case.
"Worse than a conflict of interest, this is an incredible moral lapse," Scarborough charged. "It demonstrates so significant a lack of probity as to disqualify Judge Kosinski from further service on the federal bench."
California Senator Dianne Feinstein, whose state is one of nine encompassed by the 9th Circuit, said of the Kozinski revelations, "If this is true, this is unacceptable for a federal court judge."
Kozinski has a reputation as an extreme civil libertarian. He had previously blocked efforts to put filters on the computers of court administrators, to keep them from accessing Internet pornography.
Scarborough urged, "While we pray for Judge Kozinski and his family, for the sake of decency and the integrity of the federal courts, the judge should resign."
