Adjudicator publishes decision on an objection to the admission arrangements for Birmingham City Council
LONDON. June 11, 2008/3mnewswire.org/ -- The Office of the Schools Adjudicator has published a decision on an objection by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and Dudley Local Admissions Forum to the admission arrangements of Birmingham City Council. Mr Andrew Baxter, the adjudicator considering the case, has partially upheld the objections.
Mr Baxter concluded that both councils and the forum are concerned to ensure fairness and clarity and that the issue is best addressed through a revised wording of the relevant sections of the arrangements. This leaves the timetable, including the two submission dates, unchanged, but gives greater prominence to the acceptability of the later date in cases where this is helpful to parents wishing to consider schools outside Birmingham.
